Download KookaThe latest release of Kooka is 0.44 for KDE 3.2.x: Download the source archive (tar.bz2, about 1.2MB)
libkscan sources are included
For binary packages, please refer to your distributors homepage. SUSE Linux 9.1 already ships with
Kooka 0.44.
Changes in Kooka 0.44 compared to version 0.42 that came with KDE 3.2.1:
Version 0.44
- uses Ocrad, an open source ocr tool as default ocr engine, because it works fast and delivers good results.
- adds GUI support to adjust the layout detection mode of ocrad.
Kooka is part of the KDE Graphics base package. So if you have the
KDE graphics tools installed it's most likely you already have Kooka.
If not and you're using a package (e.g. RPM, DEB) based
Distribution, then check if there are separate Kooka packages available.
Getting Kooka as a part of KDE
If all fails you can download the KDE source archives and compile them. Kooka will automatically be built
in KDE Graphics.
The lastest KDE source archives can be found on the
KDE FTP server, but
the standalone version of Kooka downloadable from here usually enhances the
official version of the last KDE release.
Documentation on downloading and installing KDE from source can be found at
kde.org
